Evaluation

Evaluation

I have really enjoyed this tribal project as it was very different form anything we have done before, also I have learnt a lot of new techniques and developed new skills which I feel have helped me a lot as a make up and hair artist.
We got to choose the tribes that we wanted to do, I chose Maori, Masai and the Holi festival of colour. I firstly researched into a few tribes then made the decision to go with these because I felt that these tribes would really depict my skills as a hair and make up artist.
As all three of the tribes are very different I could be very creative with the hair and makeup and push myself to create two looks that would push me as a hair and makeup artist to really test my skills.

For my first look, which was influenced by the Maori people, I chose to do Maori down the arm on my model. This was my catwalk shoot so I thought I could work with the Maori better with the catwalk shoot because it does not have to be so detailed and on catwalk it does not get taken into consideration as much as editorial if not every line is perfect.  However the hair was very big and detailed and on a runway, it would really stand out and catch the audience’s attention. Overall I was pleased with my look as you could instantly tell that I was
Influenced by the Maori tribe and I would say I successfully referenced this in my look.

For my second look I combined two tribes together, these were the Masai tribe and the Holi festival of colour. I thought these two would go really well together and because they are both very colourful would compliment each other. I did put more detail into the makeup for this one as it was my editorial look and this would be close up and you can really notice even the little things in editorial.  The hair and makeup were both in great detail. However apart from the problem I had with the eyes I do think It was a successful shoot and I have learnt a lot because it did not all go the way that I planned and next time I will have a better idea of how to deal with little problems.

Overall I am really pleased with my final images, but there are things that I can improve on I will take this into consideration in my next project and try to improve on these things. On my second look which was my editorial I had a bit of a problem with the makeup on the eyes I layered the eyes with paper then painted them but once doing it the model was not able to open her eyes properly. However I feel that I have learnt from this and next time I will not have this technical problem again.  I feel my skills as a hair and makeup artist really came across in this project.
